liver support

Champagne, mince tart, mulled wine, sugar cookies, egg nog and plum pudding with butter rum sauce. Oof. I can hear my liver groaning already.
If you find your digestion has slowed right down and you have problems with rich foods, you could benefit from some liver support remedies through the holiday season. Each is slightly different so look to see which matches your symptoms best. Take the remedy every night before sleep.
Chelidonium 6c is a liver support that also helps a dull aching feeling under the right shoulder blade. People needing Chelidonium may notice a yellow tinge to the eyes or skin and feel very lethargic. Carduus marianus 6c is excellent for the liver where there is general oedema as well, possibly from too much salty food. It is also good for dull frontal headaches from overindulgence. This remedy is very good if you are drinking more alcohol than usual. Finally Lycopodium 6c is supreme for the problem of bloating immediately after eating. This is the classic scene of having to release your belt a few notches after dinner! This remedy helps with gas and belching due to poor assimilation.
In January we will talk about detox plans!

holiday blues
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This time of year can be particularly hard on some, especially if they have lost a dear one or find themselves alone during the holidays. The media images of the family gathered round are like salt in a wound and can lead to deep depression and listlessness.
When there is a history of grief or disappointment that is triggered by specific events such as Christmas, it is hard to let go of the ache inside. This can be a great energy thief, leaving a person feeling weak, weary and empty. If this sounds like you or someone you know, use Natrum Muriaticum tissue salts, which is a 6x potency, three times a day to help with the grief and consequential lethargy.
If your loss is relatively recent, you may need Ignatia 30c, which is better when the grief is still raw. Take it when you feel overcome by emotion, and it will help you adjust to your new circumstances. The indications for this remedy are a feeling of a lump in the throat, eruptions of tears, and constant sighing.
panic attacks
If you feel pulled in a thousand directions, take heart! There is much we can do with homeopathy.
Aconite 30c can be used for those tending towards anxiety and panic attacks. This can be from any reason such as having too much to do, or not handling crowds well. Take this remedy if you feel your heart start to pound and you lose your breath. Your face can flush and leave you feeling dizzy. One pill every ten minutes ought to get you back on your feet in no time. Stop the remedy once you feel balanced again.
